With 2019 fast approaching, we wanted to make you aware of a couple of changes that will occur during the first half of the New Year.

NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE

As from April 2019 the National Minimum Wage will increase. The new rates will be:

Apprentice: £3.90 per hour;
Workers under 18: £4.35 per hour;
Workers aged 18 to 20: £6.15;
Workers aged 21 to 24: £7.70;
Workers aged 25 and over: £8.21.

PENSIONS
There will be an increase to the auto-enrolment contributions from April 2019 for both employers and employees. The employer’s contribution will increase from a minimum of 2% to 3% and the employee’s contribution will increase from a minimum of 3% to 5%.

PAYSLIPS
As at 6th April 2019 employees who are paid for ‘time worked’ must provide details of the number of hours that the employee has worked on their payslip.

RIGHT TO REMAIN INDEFINITELY
EU workers who currently have permanent residence in the UK will be able to apply for settled status in 2019 which will allow them to remain indefinitely in the UK as long as they can demonstrate that they have been living in the UK for 5 years.
